1. This week’s economic data painted a mixed but still resilient picture of the U.S. economy. ISM Manufacturing rose to 55.6, while ADP private payrolls increased by only 44,000, signaling some cooling in hiring. Initial jobless claims remained contained at 199,000, while productivity grew 1.4% and unit labor costs rose 1.3%. The biggest market mover comes Friday with nonfarm payrolls, unemployment, and wage growth, which could influence expectations for Fed policy…

2.THE MAIN STORY THIS WEEK FOCUSES ON China’s Deflation Problem May Be Exporting Disinflation to the U.S.China continues to struggle with weak consumer demand, excess manufacturing capacity, and intense price competition. While deflation is a problem for China, it may actually provide some relief for U.S. consumers.

3.SpaceX’s first earnings report as a public company gave investors plenty to be excited about. Revenue growth was exceptional, and importantly, the strength was spread across Starlink, AI, and the traditional space business…

4. World Watch

  • Negotiators appear to be moving closer to a temporary agreement that would reopen the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most important energy shipping lanes. If successful, the deal could reduce pressure on global oil markets, improve shipping flows, and ease some near-term inflation concerns. However, investors should view this as a tactical development rather than a permanent solution
  • China’s decision to tax offshore trusts is another step in its effort to tighten oversight of cross border wealth and improve tax compliance.
